The words "keel" and "separation" should never be considered in the same sentence. No more so than "keel" and "fell off" should be a topic when out sailing with innocent passengers. Just sayin'.

Check the washers on the bolts. Are they still in good shape? Are they still there? I had to replace mine several years ago as they were corroded. The bilge has to stay dry or the SS will corrode from lack of oxygen.
So true Thats why its being fixed. Some just try and make it worse then what it is. Thanks for the comeback though.
Nothing in the bilge is corroded in fact only the back two have a touch of discoloration. Thanks
SS will develop crevice corrosion if it is left in a wet oxygen deprived environment. It does not look like the corrosion we're all used to seeing on a rusty nail. It is roughly the same color as SS, but there will be pits and cracks (crevices) in the area that has been deprived of oxygen.
Keel bolts develop crevice corrosion from stagnant bilge water in the area under the washer or around the nut.
There are ways of replacing keelboats. Non of them fun.
The bilge doesnt stay wet I dry it out quite frequently and the is only used 3 months then hauled and covered.
It is not necessarily your practice that has caused the issue. It is all those evil prior owners, aka, the POs
