Jackdaw; I would be concerned knowing this boat all too well that it has too much sail area for the design of the boat should strong winds suddenly flare up not to mention the cost. Your thoughts
Dave,

I think @The Rabbit has explained the value proposition of a 'TURBO' job pretty well.

The vast majority of production boats from the designer and builder have a built-in safety margin, designed to keep users safe under normal conditions and even under unsafe operator error. The rig, boat, keel and sailplan are balanced to achieve this. If you want to go outside this by tweeking the sailplan (turbo) you can, but there are things to keep in mind. I think Rabbit has a pretty good handle on what these are. I'd enjoy a spin on his boat!

Turbo does have a handle on it. I err on the side of safety but experience is a powerful teacher. I have seen this before but sudden winds created an issue with sails being dropped fast. Turbo is aware and that is all I was making sure of. Thanks for your reply

I sail in the same club as Carl @The Rabbit, (Hillsboro Inlet Sailing Club) and while I have yet to race against his new Turbo boat, I do miss his old C36 on the course. This years Miami Key largo was a light air race with a long downwind portion. I can readily believe the 6 minute margin.

Below are the results. Our CLUB's BOATS took home a lot of awards

Is ARC = Assigned Rating, meaning the boat does not have a valid PRHF or ORC certificate?

Yes it is , I race in that fleet with a valid cert because there aren't enough slow boats with PHRF certs

They let you race ARC when the boat HAS a valid PHRF cert?? I'm surprised the SIs would allow that.

Dude this is south Florida, kind of a shit show.
LOL I'm JOINING that shit show this summer. We'll have both ORC and PHRF certs for the 36.7... pretty sure the MYC would not let us play in ARC! ;^)

Well actually yes! I’m not quite on the water yet but will be very soon. Not shown is the Code 0 which works great for light wind reaching
Hey! There’s my boat! It’s “big black”. Can’t wait to chase that installation around.

MYC is the club that puts on the Miami toKey Largo race. They ran out of trophies at the awards dinner and said they owed me one. That was almost two months back.

Just a question. Do you think it is wise in addition to posting boats won in a race with the owners names and where they live given all the hacking going on?

All of this detail comes from YachtScoring, and is on-line for everyone to see anyway.

Did not know that sir. Call me being cautious but rather being over cautious I must with those trying to access accounts. Yesterday alone I got a email to reopen my Chase account or it would be permanently closed. Funny thing I do not have any Chase account. Gone to spam
Jackdaw, thank you for advising. I do have accounts like credit frozen

It's only about 5 inches of prebend which is set by the diagonals. Doesn't effect the shrouds or the forstay. I'm only 15% on the uppers and about 10% on the forestay so in 10 knts wind I have about 2 inches of curve on the forestay. And the sails were all designed exactly for this set up.

When I first brought this project to my sailmaker he was super excited and we spent several hours taking measurments on the rig multiple times. And he and the factory in New Zealand nailed it. Can't say enough good things about Bob from Doyle sails in Ft Lauderdale. Class act.
