RAYMARINE EV-100 AUTO-PILOT GEAR

Hello my fellow sailors - I have my sailboat on a charter and one of members broke the autopilot, the we installed new two years ago. He stating that it started rattling and it broke, which we don't believe, but the point is it needs to be fixed. So the electronics and motor's autopilot are working, they send the message but the gear is stripped and can't engage. Would anybody know if the gear by itself is available instead of buying the complete kit?

the we installed new two years ago.

Not sure how the charter part fits in, but you will have a 3 year extended limited warranty if you registered your autopilot online when new. Worth checking out.

Is it not a slipping toothed belt in the housing? Remove wheel unit and pop the two halves apart to see the belt.. get the belt info and buy another.. ?? There is some you tube video on dealing with the wheel unit.

Send it back to Ray. I've sent two AP's back to them, and one of them I explicitly said that it was my fault, I broke it. (Actually the owner did, he wanted to "help"). They fixed both of them free of charge!

Look at pg 31-32 for adjusting the MK II wheel pilot drive clutch if it is "slipping". I think the ACU-100 only drives the MKII Wheel pilot and tiller pilot.
