The boat suffered a blade failure due to corrosion where blade meets hub. Throttling up from 2K rpm to 2.5K heard a bang and resulting vibration. I am starting the quest to acquire a replacement prop and when I consulted the manual it showed a wonderful representation of what is described as an 18" x 16" two blade prop. I assume that means an 18 " diameter with a 16 DEGREE pitch. No matter as the boat has basically a two blade prop where a few days ago it was a three blade. I could pull the current blade and hope that the build parameters are still visible, but that brings two issues. First, during survey the surveyor said that the engine a 4JH3-TE 76HP did not quite make max RPM's although it ran very well he thought perhaps the prop was slightly incorrect for the vessel and I would rather not match it up if there is a better configuration geometry folding or fixed. Second the boat still moves well under power as long as I don't exceed 1.9K, the vibration is almost nonexistent and I can still go sailing. Where does one get the information to spec out the correct diameter, pitch, blade count and shaft? Is there a ready reference? Is it better to poll owners of the same make model as to what they have if they know? I expect I am not the first to encounter this issue and it matters a great deal to correctly size for the engine.
