This should be posted to the main forum.. The SN forum has 12 pages on this and I hope this same thing doesnt happen to this "what have you done to your Mac" thread.. If you dont have a Mac and want to comment on this, hopefully it can be moved to the main forum. This is just too far off topic even for this crazy thread.

Hope this particular post gets moved to the main forum as it is interesting.. I read a bunch of those pages. But please dont screw up this thread with pages and pages on this.
Moved to a new thread. Sorry.

I'd like to see more pictures of your stern rail.
I presume you are talking about the Bustle Rack....

It holds a 70 quart cooler within easy reach, yet up and out of the way.
It was fabricated by one of the PO's, and is real solid. It holds my weight.
Believe it or not, it was a PITA trying to find that cooler! The only other one that would fit in the rack was a Yeti, but I'm not about to pay that price!

Yesterday I returned from Mexico with my little boat in tow, and today I pulled all the running rigging off of Sovereign for its once-a-year bath.

Awesome Mistress. Thanks! I was actually talking about the SS tubing that goes around the stern but I can see it fairly well in the pictures. I've seen others but yours looks like it won't interfere with the swim ladder.

sigh.... I sure miss the days when I could do my own TIG welding.

I mount my cooler in the cabin just below the step. It doubles as a step for our golden retriever.

The top of the cooler would be a good spot for a solar panel, maybe some insulation in between would even help the cooler.

Pateco, thank you very much. Maybe it didnt matter much to move that but certainly appreciated that you did.

The Bustle Back is cool, but I was also looking at the stern rail.

Thanks for posting!

The stern rail is real nice! I haven't seen another like it on a Mac. It was one of the big draws when I bought her.

Yesterday, the forecast was for record-setting heat, so during the morning hours, I tore into my CDI furler.
The forestay still looks brand new, but the foil had a slight twist in it. It lay in the afternoon sun on my patio, and by this morning, it's just about flat as a pancake.
Heck, two pancakes.

But that halyard's startin' to look a mite worn at the ferrule where it exits the foil.

This summer is going to be tough. :(( My Mac was quietly sobbing yesterday as I covered her up since she realized that it will likely be a little over a year until she can get in the water again. But my wife promised her that as long as the lakes aren't frozen she could have at least 4 days a week in the water when we finally get to Minnesota.

I've found threads like this to be a ton of fun, and very informative!
Hi guys, I'm new to this, so bare with me. Just acquired a 26D at the beginning of the month. I traded my camper for it. I actually thought it was in better shape than it turned out to be in, so there is a lot of fixing and repairing in my future. Luckily it is summertime and only crazy people go out on boats with an enclosed cabin and no A/C in lower Alabama and the panhandle of Florida during the summer. The rest of us use summer of fixing/repairing and fall, winter, and spring for sailing. I acquired this boat from a young man who apparently knew nothing about maintenance, and had a very limited budget for repairs. Sooo its off to the internet, bwyachts, and hardware stores I go.

Post up here with your latest modification, update, improvement, or frustration. Let's share ideas and pictures about what we're all doing to our boats so we can learn from one another.

When possible, post links to the products you used or the full "how-to" thread if there is one.

It can be as small or big as you want! Did you add some fuzzy dice? Post it! Did you install a Caterpillar diesel and 200 gallon fuel tank:yeah:? Let's see it!

The point is to share and keep other owners motivated. Even if you just washed and waxed it, tell us about it. All you did was go out and have a nice sail...let's hear it! Buy a new-to-you Mac? You must share!

I'll be prepping Mistress for the 4th of July weekend festivities. I just need to buy two electrical switches and install them, and the overhead to the galley will be ready to close up. Then, it'll be cleaning out everything that has accumulated inside....

Happy 4th, Mac Sailors!

Here it is, almost the end of June and 'Ohana is still sitting on the trailer. I took a new position and gave up a lot of freedom and flexible time. First launch is a lot of work since I have to reassemble the standing rigging and running rigging. The place I put in is about 5 miles via water to where her slip is. That's another mess because when I finally get her in her slip it's also about 4 miles back to the truck over the roads. There are probably no "ubers" in Deltaville. It's a full day when you include the trip there and back which is 4 hour round trip

4 hours of driving, 2 hours of assembly, 2+ hours to sail or motor around stingray point into fishing bay, another hour getting her settled and another hour to walk back to get the truck (unless one of the live aboards gives me a lift). I always plan on something going wrong or taking longer (like a trip to WM if I need something). If I don't leave here by 8 am, the day is shot. Seems like someone obligates me to something and says. Be home by 5 or something.

It's darn near JULY!

Before:

After:

The electrical system was completely torn out and rewired; all those shower baskets were tossed out, and new woodwork replaced it.
The counter is just sitting there unsecured at the moment since I have to cut a hole for the sink and wire the power to the water pump. Most of the original fibreglass countertop will be cut out to make room, leaving just enough to screw the oak top into.
The holes under the settee will be covered in the future and the plastic panel that the main power switch is in will be changed to an oak panel.

I lowered the mast with the rig I cobbled together. It worked just like I thought it would. (I'm still waiting for the other shoe to drop!) Lashed down the rigging and now I'm ready to get the bottom wet. Checked the weather, next weekend 80% chance of thunderstorms. I'm hoping that will change. The weekend after that, my wife's family reunion. Looks like I'm shooting for the weekend of the 16th. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Added a fan. Ahhhh.... Need to do something with the wiring.

I also found and fixed 5 top side leaks (eek!) and zeroed in in a leak that I'll post questions about in a different thread. Butyl tape is your friend for top side leaks.
