Thanks, quite nice. I like the "cleaner" versions, compared to the versions that seem to crop up before sporting events, that botch a perfectly good tune.

That's interesting. I'm so used to hearing embellished arrangements at first I thought this version missed a couple of the chord changes!

I have often wondered how many young people have never heard or know the original- bothers me when I hear the (being nice) modified versions.

Although a very nice tune, it was not the National Anthem of the United States at this time. That would not happen for another 70+ years. 1931 to be exact, by Congressional Resolution. The music was written by an Englishman, but not for this purpose. The music was written by John Stafford Smith in 1770. The original melody (as heard in the 1854 version) was taken from the music The Anacreontic Song.
So, the words are American and the music is British. Appropo I would say, hear hear. God Save The Queen (that's another song we can discuss - America (My Country 'Tis of Thee))!
