Drats, 5 hours from Sandy Hook through NYC and the East River. Tried the generator when I read the comments, didn't prime. Pulled every hose and ran water through them via the raw water pump since were on a mooring. The vane piece was the tip of one vane, water runs freely with volume when not connected to the HX. Tomorrow sees a gallon of "On & Off" get sucked into the Hx to super clean that and the muffler.Did it take a gasket or O-Ring seal on the cover plate?Today I started off by pulling the impeller out (nothing wrong with it) and replacing it

If your exhaust manifold is above the waterline and your sea water pump impeller is good, you are right.Our Onan 8kw Genset, including the sea water screen, is above the waterline and does not have a vented loop. No reason to have one that I can think of
