Anl fuse busbar vs. dual mrbf and plain busbar

First of all, thanks to everyone here for all the help and advice I've gotten in the past regarding the rewiring I did on our Catalina 27. We just moved up to a Catalina 310 and I'm looking at doing some rewiring on it: adding an ACR, new electric panel, new charger, better lug connectors, etc.

On the C27 I used Blue Sea MRBFs to fuse things at the batteries and connected the ACR at the battery switch. For the C310 I'm going to mount the ACR by the batteries, so I'll have 4 connections at the primary battery (3 x 80A, 1 x 250A) and 2 at the reserve (1 x 80A, 1 x 250A). I know three lugs is too many to put on the MRBF, so I was thinking of using a normal busbar as a positive connection for the three 80A circuits. I've also seen Jesse's wiring; he used ANL fuse holders as a busbar, which requires a copper bar mounted to the fuse holders.

Just wondering if there are advantages or disadvantages of going either way. I'm not certain I've got the vertical clearance for the MRBF, so the decision might be made for me, but it would be nice to know if there are other things I should know about this.

My suggestion is to attach the MRBF fuse holders to a bus connected to the positive post. I prefer as few connections on batteries as possible - ideally no more than one per post plus any battery interconnects and temp sensors.

That's an interesting idea I hadn't thought of. Seems like a reasonable idea.

Any thoughts from others on putting a few MRBFs on a bus bar, rather than directly on the battery? As long as I don't need more amps than the MRBF (300A total, no problem here) I'm not sure I see a problem doing it that way, rather than using ANL fuses/holders and a homemade bus bar.

I do this quite regularly...

Maine Sail... I can't quite be sure what Blue Sea items you are using in the LH side of your photo. Can you please provide a little more detail?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure Maine Sail's picture shows a 5191 bolted to a MaxiBus bar (with cover). I got this picture from Blue Sea tech support. It shows their new Power Bar 1000 with a 5191 MRBF mounted on the bottom bar, and a 9160 link connected to an ANL fuse holder on the top bar.

So it looks like I could do it either way pretty easily. The MRBF ends up being a little cheaper, but needs more vertical space. The ANL has a higher max amp fuse.

The MRBF takes up to a 300 amp fuse. The standard ANL fuse holder (5005) also takes up to a 300 amp fuse. If you wish to go larger with an ANL fuse you need the 5503 fuse holder for fuses up to 750 amps. https://www.bluesea.com/products/5503/ANL_Fuse_Block_with_Insulating_Cover_-_35_to_750A
