Too funny... but I think you have a naughty mind..

Or... they look like Klingon war ships uncloaking.. (Star Trek stuff should completely reset the naughty thought..lol)

After reading Doc's ordeal I don't feel quite so bad about our first sailing trip of the season.

My write-up was a bit long winded so I created a new thread for it.

We were able to take our Mac out, first time. Had a great time all went well. Until the end forgot to raise the rudder going up the ramp. Minor damage simple fiber glass fix.

I hate to admit how many times I've done that. that's why I converted my V-222 rudder to swing up and use a nylon bolt on my 26d.

I am proud to say that yesterday I remembered though. :)

Installed new Ruddercraft mahogany / ash tiller. Beautiful, and strong.

(PO had broken stock tiller in half, sanded smooth and kept using it! I now have s "shorty spare" under aft bunk...)

I started stripping!!

this started out as me trying to find the leak, ended up stripping the whole interior out. Not that there was a lot left in it. I think one of the POs was going for speed. Now i guess once I find and fix the leak (btw I think its the rubrail near the bow) I might as well clean all the bilges.
I have a lot of aft cabin interior coat thats just falling off.
Can I just repaint? or does fairing have to be done? or will glue stick to the weave? I may just do the whole inside in that thin grey carpet I have seen on a few others.

I finally got around to installing my stereo. Very low power draw unit with no tape or CD player motor using up battery power. It has AM/FM, AUX, USB and SD card inputs. I got a 32gig SD card, which should hold between 4,000-8,000 songs - depending on sound quality. (I don't have my ammeter hooked up yet, so I can't give actual consumption numbers) I've only hooked up the cockpit speakers so far, I know where/how I want to mount the cabin speakers... I'll get to it. Oh, and at first I didn't care about it, but I like that it has a remote: I can quickly hit mute from the tiller if someone hails me on the VHF or I need to address my crew... that, and songs always seem to be different volumes, so I can adjust accordingly

AUX input hooks into a 20ft extension which runs out the side of this console and through the starboard settee and comes out by the fuse panel. VHF will get mounted on the left panel of that console

I finally splashed on May 31st! Launched out of Bellevue WA and sailed around Lake Washington for 4 hours or so. When we finally finished tacking our way up and into the open lake, we took one tack for probably 20 minutes at 5.5-6.2knts!!! I've never been able to sail that long without tacking before! There was a boat who we caught and passed on that leg, and another that came from upwind, turned and sailed in between us. So we had 3 boats, all around the same size, sailing on the same tack, about 75ft apart. It was so cool!!!!

Oh, and new trailer was awesome! I'm not sure if one side of the ramp was steeper or if it was just from the boat sitting lower due to the ballast, but my rear tire rubber was all that touched the water on launch, exhaust had to go under for retrieval.

That's normal. You can expect to go deeper when you retrieve the boat every time. That's part of the nature of water ballast.

Glad to hear you had a good time. I remember enjoying Lake Washington as a kid. I haven't been there for several years though.

Boom position on The 26S
Can anyone please tell me what the correct distance between the top of the cabin and the gooseneck should be on an original 26S ? On my mast I have 2 sets of holes with the goose neck mounted on the lower set. The reason I ask is that the boom just touches the top of the bimini/dodger and the second set would be perfect. I could easily move the boom to the upper set of holes and still hoist the sail fully with inches to spare. Provided that the upper set is not the original one, what would the consequences be? I really don't wish to change the sailing characteristics just to accommodate the Bimini...

I measured 24-7/8" from the bottom of the mast to the center of the goose-neck on my 26d.
