Looking for suggestions on how to replace a halyard AFTER the messenger line came loose... Obviously, the halyard runs up inside the mast. It runs about 3/4 the way up the mast. The mast is presently off the boat resting on saw horses.
This isn't your video is it? I laughed 'til I cried.A trick they use to run wire through conduit is to tie a rag to a light line and stuff it into the conduit. Then use compressed air to blow the rag through.
You could do the same thing by starting at the upper sheave and blowing towards the mast step. Lay the line out first and tie a stick to the other end so that you don't blow the line all the way through. Try to remember not to touch the line while it is running. This has bad consequences. Don't ask how I know this.
Only The Shadow knows for sure. BWA-HA- HA-HAGeez, Ron... I can't tell if you are being sarcastic or not.
Worked like a charm! What, the mast is down on sawhorses? That's easy!

All good stuff, but my mast is UP. Halyard isn't broken but old. Just tie new one to old one and pull it through?
Then go with the "Flemish eye" mod when putting a whiplock on the halyard end.The paper clip sounds like a good idea but I want to make sure there no "coming apart at the seams"!
