Headsail/Spinnaker

While looking at the top of my mast I found I was using the spinnaker halyard for the headsail (I think) and I think it comes out the wrong side of the mast.....Is the way it should be rigged?...Headsail Halyard closest to the mast coming out of the port side... spinnaker to the front and coming out on the starboard side?...Any specs or pictures would be a great help...

You don't mention type of boat, so this may be wrong, but I don't think either a spinnaker or other headsail halyard should be exiting the side of the mast.

My O'Day 322 uses an internal halyard for the jib (in the furler foil) and also has an external halyard. The attached photo is not great, but it shows all of the halyards exiting the mast on the centerline of the boat.

Sorry I didnt mention....1982 Oday 30...And yes all 3 halyards go through the mast..

So you mean the halyards exit at the bottom of the mast..on the side?

The top-most forward facing halyard should be the spinnaker halyard IF THE BOAT is equipped with one. My old boat, a Hunter 280, was a fractional rig, so the jib halyard was well below the spinnaker halyard.
