Hello all, I'm New member obviously. I hoping to get some input about oday 22s.
I'm currently looking at a 87 Catalina 22 (swing keel) which is about 2,00 miles from me, and there are 2 ODay 22's (1974 and ? ) for sale locally.
The C22 has a single axle refurbished trailer (without tongue extension), 2 yr old roller furling, 2 yr old 15hp 2 stroke outboard, 2 yr old jib, 1yr old keel hanging system, bimini, and looks in great shape. It should be around 6,000 CAD sitting in my driveway, if I pay asking price.
The Oday22 are these: http://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/winnipeg/oday-22-sailboat/1017309389?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true http://www.kijiji.ca/v-sailboat/win...ft/1050102547?enableSearchNavigationFlag=true
I haven't seen the boats in person yet.
Whichever boat we buy, we hope to have it sitting at a marina on Lake Winnipeg most of the summer, (so we can being sailing within an hour or so of leaving the house) while at the same time be able to tow it with our pickup, to other places like the Lake of the Woods, Lake Superior, maybe even the B.C. Coast.
Anyone launched both boats ?
The Oday sits higher on the trailer so that makes it more of a problem but how much different is it in the real world ?
Any gotchas I should look at on the Oday 22 ? or the C22 for that matter ?
I notice threads about rotting deck cores. is this common to specific years ?
Just use a rubber mallet to tap the hull and see if it's rotten ?
Thanks for any advice.
