Selden Bowsprit

Has anyone installed a Selden 072-072-70 Aluminum Bowsprit on a Hunter 260? We're hoping to do this on our Hunter so we can have a furled asymmetrical spinakar.

Will do (maybe in the North Channel this summer). This weekend going over to the boat (boat's out of storage) and attempting to see if I can find areas to install the necessary Brackets for the bow sprit on the foredeck. I cannot use the anchor locker cover and I must have access to the underside of the deck for backing plates. Stay tuned.

We're planning on sailing with the TS/A (Trailer Sailors) organization. This year they (we) are launching at Little Current around July 18th - we'll be pulling out around August 1st. There will (historically) be around 30 to 40 boats - all trailerable on the cruise. I've attached the facebook link to the TS/A group. Hope we see you.

to access the forward section, remove the triangular panel held in by screws in the v berth. It is tight fit so be careful. There you will be able to install backing plates. Suggest using small drill bit first to make sure before the big bit.

Good luck with that one! I mounted one on our First 260, which has a much larger foredeck the H260. I was shocked by how limited I was in mounting choices.... the pole having to fit around the pulpit, the tip having to be on the centerline, and the back of the pole in a mountable location (not on the anchor locker door!). Made it work, just.

PS that pole is for sale if anyone is interested. Used maybe 10 times.

Its a Sparcraft 70mm pole. I am selling it because we now fly our asyms exclusively from our spinnaker pole. It is in perfect shape. Very very high quality. We just never use it. Will sell it for 75% of best possible internet price. Its UPS shippable. We had it on our Beneteau First 260, not a Hunter 260.

Update on Bowsprit Install

This weekend we got the Selden Bracket successfully installed on the foredeck of our H-260. Very tight. Was especially fun down in the v-berth tightening the bolts/washers beneath the deck. Thanks Dave for the tip!
