I purchased an "83 O'day 28 last June and want to upgrade my anchoring system.
Will 200 feet 1/2 inch anchor braid line with a 12 lb. Delta anchor and 20 feet chain fit in the anchor well?
I would think so but can't honestly say as i don't know but suggest you take the anchor out of the locker and put it on a bow roller to make handling easier and give you more room.
We were able to keep a danforth with its rode, along with about 15' of chain and 200' of line for a CQR in the locker on our '85 28. I'd guess that it's possible to fit what you're looking for, but as njlarry suggests a roller is a worthwhile addition for storing and easily deploying the anchor.

Bow rollers are very convenient for frequent anchoring, but puts the anchor weight high and as far forward as possible, and in a place where it very easily snags on spinnakers. We often keep our delta stored low in the locker when sailing, even when cruising.
I have an 83 oday as well and it had real light chain for the anchor when i bougt it so i went with 44 feet of 3/8 chain which is a little overkill but it was available for cheap so i did it
The picture with the tape measure is what was there prior to the upgrade.
