Thanks Jerry, appreciate it. I've been anchored out moving across the top of the Abbaco's. It looks like they have seals, bearings and shafts in Marsh Harbour, I'll be there by Monday if the weather unfolds as I expect.I bought one today for my boat, 2003 Hunter 356, a 2003 Yanmar 3GM30F for $224.48 from Depco Pump in Clearwater. Suggest you call them and have them ship to Bahamas. I should have mine in 2 days.
For those that have changed out the pump, how difficult was it to get the hoses off and back on? Any tips would be appreciated.
I am going to take off the old one, then call them about a repair kit. I should have asked about the price when I bought this pump. I've got 1227 hours on mine.
Interesting analogy.....I think in my case I'm heading up the Alaska Highway, my tire needs air because it has a hole and nearest patch is 3 days travel away , and I don't have a spare tireBob O4,
why are you buying a new pump when only the water seal needs to be replaced? It's a cheap part and takes no more than 20 mins to replace it. Once the pump is off, and the clip(spring clip) is removed the whole thing comes apart and you can replace the washer and put the pump back on, I know I did mine 3 years ago, checked the bearing, everything looked fine and life has been great - I think it cost me $10 in total. Why buy a new car when all you need is air in the tires, right?
Bob, I rebuild my pump and for spares I bought a shaft and the required bearings, spacer, seal...C Clips. I assemble it and keep as standby spares. In event of major leak/failure, i just extract the shaft-bearing assembly and pop the spare in. Its cheaper this way. No need for complete pump spare.Interesting analogy.....I think in my case I'm heading up the Alaska Highway, my tire needs air because it has a hole and nearest patch is 3 days travel away , and I don't have a spare tire!
My intension is to rebuild the pump, and carry a spare pump, but it is not to buy a new boat !
Thanks for the advice, Bob
