25XP Fuel Priming Conundrum

Stu,

I really don't wanna take apart the assy. but, it's at least worth a shot looking to see if something is not right.

I hope there is a visual on the shaft to see if it is rotating when hitting the kill switch. The pin is the only thing keeping the kill lever attached to the shaft.

Sometimes, even longshots win races.

I agree. IIRC, the springs were surrounding the pin that went into the assembly. Of course, the blowup diagram you have would show those.

Happy hunting.

Jibes, I appreciate your trying to help pal but, I explained numerous times that nothing had been done to the fuel system or anything else for it not to crank up. There is a problem & it will be apparent starting with inspecting the fuel manifold/bleed(?) valve for where the blockage is occurring. The fuel system up to this point is primed & checks out. I can't wait to find out what the culprit is. CR
i understand but I was under the impression you changed out filters and cracked injector lines looking for fuel flow. That reads as monkeying around with the fuel system to me. Did you push the kill cable back to the run position at the panel :>) ?

there was a thread about this problem about two years ago and it had pics ...the best i remember they had two springs on that injector pump and they work as a team so you may do a search and find this

Guys,

My pal met with Carl Leer, a local marine engine specialist yesterday to hopefully find why we were not able to get the engine started the week before.

Carl wanted to hear the fuel pump run, as when the system is primed the pump action slows down. While the pump was running, Carl opened the diverter/bleed valve for 15 seconds. He then closed the valve & said, "Try starting her up."

The engine didn't crank a few times but, it immediately started as a car engine would.

The Well........Sorta part. He asked my pal exactly what we did step by step & said everything we did was done by the book. My pal told him that we ran the pump to prime the fuel over & over for the better part of an hour. He said after what we did, he was not sure why we couldn't get it started.

So, thanks for all the advice you guys posted here.

The problem is fixed, the mystery however, still remains..............a mystery.
