Beneteau recommends Miniwax golden oak (I know, strange) to touch up scratches in their OEM two-part varnish. They used no tint. I have found this works well.I am just wondering whether I'll get back to the original colors if I sand the scratched areas and laquer them without using tint. But of course it is just to give it a try some place and see..

Yes, the 'golden oak' stain colors the bare wood to match the color of the OEM clear finish on surrounding undisturbed finishes. Then you just match the proper polyurethane sheen to finish. I would think that you could match the Minwax stain with a locally available wood stain.On my boat I have several places, where I need to go back to plain wood, or have scratches that are down to plain wood. Have you also used it on plain wood? I ask, because I have to import the golden oak from the states to Denmark.
