ok incase anyone is interested.....i am posting some of my upgrades.....

1st is the navpod arrangement that i came up with(and a little help from the site and sailing mags)...i completely disassembled the edson pedestal...bead blasted it and had it re anodized.... added the Edson shift controls and new teleflex extreme cables.... ran all the wires down the pedestal( thanks to Chris Patterson for the idea on the autopilot wires) and pedestal guard that i had to extend in height about 14 inches in order to have the chart plotter above the Ritchie compass.... also mounted my vhf cockpit mic and concealed the wires in the pedestal guard tube ...theses nav pods cost me about $80.00 and a few hrs of my time...about 1 sixth of factory made ones..... the garmin shelf is a embellishment of MaineSails example.... thanks Maine

2nd is the engine control panel and shower box with the alarm buzzer on top center..... had to make the wiring harness from the extension cable to interface with the 2gm20f engine using all yanmar connectors....and added oil pressure and water temp sending units..and also a trombetta solenoid for the electric engine shut down

3rd is the forward hatch that i found a Texas salvage yard...bead blasted it and had it anodized and reglazed it with new plexiglass/lexan and gasket ...used dow 795 adhesive sealant...was going to emulate the original one but found this nice bomar hatch on a morgan and decided to use it instead at about 20% of making a new original S2

4th i added a bow roller to handle my bruce 22 lb anchor in that process i had to move the starboard and port lights back in order to gain the room for the roller trough.....plugged the old holes with tig welder and ground and polished them out

Woody it is a beautiful boat with great care and craftsmanship. I was a little disappointed though: with your name and love for wood crafts I thought it would be a wooden boat! ha

Chief as much as i like wood and wooden boats i am on the lazy side when it comes to maintenance of the finish and that along with my age its to time consuming ....now if i were 40 years younger yes but at my age its time to go sailing and not spend the rest of my life varnishing and gluing broken parts...iron and fiberglass will be enough ...thanks for the admiration

Very nice work! It will make some great wakes in the water.

Woodster, I am super impressed, man. I particularly like how you mounted those pods, that is simple and slick. I might be copying you on that one.

Hey man, I never did catch up with you down there, I actually left that boat in Pompano Beach. Ugly story..

Woody, where did you get the stainless angled tube fittings for the pedestal guard? Did they slip up from the bottom? That's a first rate idea for creating a pod where there is little room to spare.

its two 60 degree deck rail fittings that slide over the deck rail 1" and two deck rail that fasten to the deck with 4 screws from that outfit in cali called marine parts depot or something like that

Did they slip up from the bottom?

yes they did

That's a first rate idea for creating a pod where there is little room to spare.

Damned if that doesn't look like a new boat, woodster!
thanks Phil..it almost is ...the only thing that is old is the yanmar and the life lines at this point everything else has been re done or upgraded and replaced oh and the sails but they are very good condition it has taken a very long time to do all of this and for the most part with very little money as i have none to spare...... ;) hell i can't even buy white socks or a pipe to smoke ...a lot came from people on this site at very good bargains and elsewhere to boot
