If your boom angle is less than 90 degrees then consider the following:
the distance between the clew and the boom is shorter than the foot
to lower the sail you have to stretch the sail that lies between the tack and the horizontal projection of the boom end.
This is not that big an issue until you get to a boom angle of less than 80 degrees
The solution is a jack line attaching the luft to the mast for that porting below the horizontal projection of the boom end. think of it as a non attached luft bolt rope.
And yes you can slack the outhaul as a solution also.
