Hi all,

We had an issue with our anchor chain jumping off the roller while retrieving the anchor with the windlass. It usually happened when the winds were up and we were swinging side to side. We always communicate bow to helm, but sometimes the strain would pull the chain over the side. I had seen smaller boats with a boom bail to hold their chain rode but I couldn't find one big enough for our Manson Supreme anchor. The fabrication shop here at Hinkley Yacht Services made one for me. I'm very pleased with the results.

Just been wondering here where hinkleys shop is ..... and had to ask if that was the thunderbolt bridge in the right if the pic ....oh the bail looks like the one that is on my Lewmar bow roller...

That is the bridge, we're right across the river from Savannah Bend Marina.

back in the 70's i used to tie up there when i would make the river trip(about 35 to 40 times) from augusta to savannaha...used to be a place called Tassies Pier there and Frank Parrish or Johnny Harris restaurant..something like that ...also there was a dry dock yard called Palmers there as well...if you like Orange Duck there is a place down town (if its still there operating) called The Pirates House that servers some of the best in the country...if you can get out and see the old homes and mansions its a great place to see the past ...its a cross between Charleston and New Orleans....enjoy your stay and glad to see you in Georgia....

The restaurants on River Street are Tubby's and Tortugas Grille. Both are good based on lunch and supper dining. We're leaving in the morning but I'm sure the wives will have us back uptown one last time. Too bad SBO doesn't have Halo's in the store because after these last two weeks I deserve one. :Liar:

The service here at Hinkley has been friendly and top notch and it will be like leaving family. :cry:

No, just a wash down pump with pre-piped nozzles to each anchor chain. Now you have me thinking.
We anchored out four days now and the roller bail has paid for itself.
