The shower floor pan has a gap between it and the shower wall of about 3/8". I cannot keep the caulk adhering to the whole joint to seal it tight.

if it is a horizontal gap.... just make a teak trim board and put a rabbit in one side that is wide enough to lap over the 3/8 gap making sure the rabbited side is down and the thick side is on top....put some ss oval head screws on 5 or 6 inch centers in the thick part of the trim board and us a sealer on the contact of the trim to the wall surface and you will have created a drip rail ....The shower floor pan has a gap between it and the shower wall of about 3/8". (yeah - pix please)Fix the gap. A piece of SS shiplap will work just fine, and is sort of what it is designed for. A picture will get you a much better solution though.
