Catalina 27 TR SEA HOOD REMOVAL????

Any one remove the sea hood ? Ours has about 8 screws forward and looks to be laid in to the companion way cover ,The rails on ours has no thru bolts on the rails as the out side or top side screws are plugged. like to remove the sea hood to inspect the area behind the mast step, not sure if I remove the 8 screws if it slides out?Any one do this?

What year is your boat? On my '77 C27 the screws on the FWD face only held the wood trim on the fiberglass hatch. Had to remove the wooden side rail(s) to remove the hatch, but my screws were accessible from the cabin.

The screws I talk about are facing the bow,just behind the mast step.
I see the screws in yours on the inside, our boat is a 82 and the rails have no screws on the in side thru the cabin roof, they must be in the rail on the out side top and look to be doweled so looks like a major job to drill out the wood dowels and then pull the rails but a good time to do some re bedding as everything else was flare drilled and re bedded

Dive7, I have a 1980 also with a sea hood and removed mine. On mine I remember only 3 screws on each side of the front facing sloped surface-total of six screws. You have to remove the teak guide rails to get the hood off because the are four self tapping screw-two on each side of the sea hood. These were placed one at the front end and one at the back end on each side of the hood. It really wasn't that big a deal to take off the guide rails but I was doing it to refinish all my teak which hadn't been done by the PO for a very long time. I don't think the C27's had a sea hood before 1980.
