Yeah. 3 knots of wind, apparently new boat, and a solid stainless shackle snaps in two.
If they were really sailors, they would have used a more common failure. Like jamming a jibsheet winch during a tack in 20 knots, and having the other jibsheet snarl up with the loaded one at the jib clew, due to the ensuing flogging.

Please seek the advice of a sailing instructor if your sail remains back winded for more than four hours.
I believe the guys who write these commercials need some sort Viagra for the brain. The one with the guy on the sailboat is no sillier than the dude with the Dodge Power Wagon unloading the Clydesdales rather than shifting the truck into 4 wheel drive, or the fool on the beach lighting a fire by striking sparks with a stainless steel knife and an oyster shell. If these commercials are about taking charge and knowing how to deal with a situation these writers need to take some lessons in common sense. Obviously they think were all as stupid as they are.

Come on all you sailors should know backwinding the jib is the first step into a hov to position and the tow rope is clearly a sea anchor,and they cant show you the rest unless you consent

the audience for those commercials is not "real guys" it is guys that want to be real guys and they have no clew. If a real guy sees this kind of stuff he knows it is bologna, if a somewhat less than real guy sees this he does not have a reference but it is on TV so that MUST be what real guys do. Same applies to real gals too.

The Admiral informs me that the gals are interested IF and ONLY if sufficient frictional mitigation can be achieved for the 4 hours.

I have found that a well rounded portfolio works remarkably well. No exercise, buying pills, fancy clothes, even washing dishes. My wife even likes the housekeeper Raoul as well..
If it is the same commercial I am familiar with, the boat is a J Boat. But, that makes no difference. I have done commercial photo shoots where they used my boat and I had to set up the actors, who were not sailors at all. It took some doing, but no one was towing the boat. We were sailing the boat, even with the spinnaker. That made it interesting to set the kite, show an actor how to gybe the pole, etc. without wiping the boat out. I would set up the shot and then scramble down in the cabin to get out of the shot. It was an all day affair, but it worked out.
I've always wondered about that - when I see folks sailing in the movies, like Captain Ron, Dead Calm, etc., I can't help but visualize a crew hiding below decks, or the actual crew dressed as the characters when the camera is far enough away.
