Anyone have a switch that turns on in shallow water? I have used Rule floats for many years, but they require a couple of inches of water to pass current to the pump. Looking for less water in my bilge.

Bill, In addition to the float switch, I have a switch on the DC Panel that turns on the bilge pump by by-passing the float switch, at least momentarily. I can't remember if thet manual switch stays on continuously or if it is a momentarily switch. Look at you DC distribution panel for a "Bilge" switch.

I agree on the water witch....They can be found in the defender catalog or I suppose just go to google and type in water Witch float switch...they have a metal diode that can be mounted on the wall of the bilge or on a base, but you can set the metal diodes to come on at say 1/2 inch deep...with a bilge switch that has automatic, manual, etc. by Rule Industries for instance. I'm just getting ready to buy a new one....

The only way I have ever gotten all the water out of my bilge to use the shop vac!
I did give some thought in to permanently mounting s small shop vac some were in the stern. Doing a gravity feed drain above water line out the back attached to bottom of vacs waste bucket. Maybe put it on a timer or manual a switch at nav.:+1:

Oooo. Oooo... I've got it! Rig the shop vac to blow the water out & up like a rooster tail! You'd scare the * out of the race competition at the pre-race manouvers
