Zincs

We have a Hunter 30T '93 with a Yanmar 2GM20F motor with an engine water heater. First off the pictures in the manual do not look much like the engine. Anyway, I have been unable to locate the zincs on the engine. Are they there? Where are they? If there are no zincs, does this mean they are not needed?Thanks,Steve S

Once a hotly debated subject in site. Turns out you don't have one nor do you need it. But it does allways bring Phil's nickname to mind for a laugh.JB

explain

You don't need a zinc on any of the Yanmar engines that end in "F" since that denotes "freshwater cooled" using a closed system. You do however, still need a shaft zinc to keep your prop and shaft from degrading.
