Are you willing to re-power?
Repowering would be pointless if the yanmar is running well. Repower would cost more than the boat value.
Even if it had the original atomic 4 is a good motor and wouldn't require a repower unless it was in horrible condition. They are solid, reliable motors.
The hull is all but indestructible, ignore the smile, filing it is an annual touch up item.
Aside the the common concerns for balsa cored decks, the one design issue was the mast step, which I believe originally was a wooden block. Over time they would rot and need replacement. Get the water out of the mast step and keep it out..

If the engine runs and the deck is not all wet, I'd buy it.
Spot on.
That mast step was an issue. Given the boat age it.may have been dealt with.
IMO, Not a horrible task to fix either way.
It is 3 "layers".. the aluminium "pan", a thick piece of hardwood (visible under the aluminium pan), then the stringer/step section. The stringer/step section would rot.
The thick wood block section that the original aluminium pan sits on, has a drain hole so the water can go down the mast, into the pan, through the hole, and into the bilge.
Mast needs to be pulled to check both the stringer/step and the wood block above it.
On my boat the previous owner had a custom aluminium piece made in place of the stringer/step section 20 years ago. When I bought the boat, the thick wood section that sits on that, had rotted around its drain hole.
I made a new one that is fully encapsulated in epoxy. So now it is bulletproof.
The deepest part of the bilge is under the step. Because of that, I have an ultra safety systems float switch hooked to a rule dry bilge diaphragm pump. The non-submersible pump is self priming, and sucks the water out of that hidden spot with a hose and can suck almost all the water out. They spec 1/8" or less.
GFlex solves the smile. But it is usually just cosmetic so not a priority in any way.
As long as the keel stub has no damage from grounding.or whatever, I wouldnt worry at all.
Yep. Deck coring would be the big concern IMO. At this age it.may have been resolved.
On my boat, all the hoses were old but that is easy to fix.
The DIY add-on wiring done by previous clueless owners was a mess. I am currently fixing the wiring.
They are great boats IMO.
