My YSB12 ran away for four minutes while I went to get ice. Then it shut itself down. Now it won't start. It spins when I crank it as if there is no compression. (It's not the decrompression lever because I can still operate that). I think it happen because there is some kind of internal spring in the governor that was stuck and then came free. (It was the first time I ran the engine this year). There was no tension on the governor when I check it, and the later it came free and had lots of tension. Anyway, I have lost compression. Anyone know what I needs to be repaired to regain compression?

you probobly blew the head gasket

and possably the rings. The only way a deisel runs off like that is if there is too much oil in the crankcase (the motor will start running on oil) or you had an air leak. Mine ran off because off too much oil caused by the fuel pump (on the side of the motor) had a leak in the diaphram and let fuel run into the crankcase and over fill. When they run off like that they turn REAL HIGH RPMS if not stopped. My bet would be that you need to replace the head gasket.
