YSB12 cylinder head torque spec. I just got my Yanmar YSB12 cylinder head back after a valve job. During this process my Service manual and my original Yanmar YSB12 operation guide were thrown out with the trash by a "helper". I have a new Shop manual on the way. Can anyone confirm the YSB12 head torque so I can button this thing up. The problem I have heard 28lbs , 40 lbs all the way to 90lbs. This is quite a range. Can anyone confirm the factory torque specs for the head bolt on this one lung Yanmar. Thanks in advance for any help Regards, Big Joe

Big Joe My service manual for the sve 12 shows 13.65 Kg/m. I get 9.2 ft lbs. You do the math I may be wrong, 9.,2 sounds too low and is a lot less than the values you have been given. After repair on my sve 8 the mechanic came back after a few weeks and tightened the head bolts again. HTH Bill

Thanks

Thanks for that Bill. A kilogram should equal 2.2 lbs. So 13.65 Kg should be 30.03 lbs. Doesn't sound like much huh? I found out the YSE12 is 12.4 Kg, or 27.28 lbs. Who'da thunk it? Thanks for your kindness. Regards, Big Joe

Cyl. head torque-Yanmar YSM

Kg/m -> Ft.lbs - multiply by 7.233 Kg/cm -> Ft. lbs - multiply by .07233 The spec. in my YSM manual calls for 1,360 Kg/cm or 98 ft. lbs for the 12 HP Since the YSM & YSB are virtually the same engine, you're probably OK with the 98 ft./lbs figure.

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. I see now my torque wrench has the same markings Rick mentions. Thanks Rick for the confirmation and to TT for the formula. And Bill it seems you were off by just a decimal point. Thanks again guys. Regards, big joe

Thank You

I could not find my torque wrench and realized it was at a buddies house from when we worked on his boat. I'd have never found it in another couple of months after I forgot where I last used it.
