For the pure fun of sailing, I can't think of any place better than San Francisco Bay. But it's too cold, expensive and California is buried in laws that make life ashore or on the water miserable.
Other than that sadly, I can't think of any place in NA where I would be happy year 'round.

Have you spent any time sailing around Puerto Rico?

I don't have experience with the sailing there, but it is inexpensive and I believe the laws are relatively relaxed.

Capta, you got me thinking. If your going to utilize TelePortation to go to a wonderous place. Then what would stop popping to several places as the whimsy suggests.

The Pacific NW from Oregon to Alaska and places in between for the rugged beauty, the Caribbean for sun warmth and rum, San Francisco Bay just to experience sailing in the bay - then pop out as you near the marina, the North East coast line from Nova Scotia down too New York, the Chesapeake for the soft shell crabs and the Sea of Cortez for a winter. That is just around the North American Continent.

The waters down under New Zealand, Australia, and Tasmania all offer sailing excitement.

Perhaps we do not have to wait for teleportation. Save up your airline miles and go.

*So sorry, the Mona Passage is between PR and Hispaniola, not the Windward Passage. Not that the Mona Passage can't get her knickers in a twist.
Actually, yes. The north and south coasts can be rather uncomfortable if one wishes to go east against the trades and the west coast is in the Windward Passage. The east coast is nice until the trades kick up and faces what is commonly known as the Spanish Virgins.
