Looks like they've starting going after softer targets (3 sailboats in 3 weeks). I would take that to mean the larger ships are now so well protected they're no longer able to hijack them.

I hate pirates.

They are trying to build up a stock of cute hostages that the media will respond to in order to stave off any real action against them. The count is now up to about 700 but most of them are third world seaman and the media isn't going to get very excited about their being killed. Those kids are each worth about 500 seaman as far as protection is concerned, even if they won't bring in as much ransom.

Just a few more sailboats and they'll have the world by the balls just as securely as Iran did the U.S. during the Carter years.
