It looks pretty stable, and the price is right, too!

I havc a Minto Dinghy that I was thinking about trying to use as a pattern to make a nesting dinghy, but it looks like these guys are already doing that:http://www.nestawayboats.com/page3.htm
Nice looking dinghy and would probably fit on a foredeck, too bad they cost as much as what some people here probably paid for their boat. -Tim

I wonder if they would sell one on the 'instalment plan', one section at a time ;-)

I actually plans to build your own nesting dinghy, but I'll be damned it I remember where it was now. I'll have to see if I can find it again. It would definitely save if you built it yourself.

There are quite a few places online for plans for stitch and glue constructed dinghies. I just really liked the looks of the classic lapstrake style. -Tim

Yet another option for a nesting dinghy.

A Marine Architect named Dave Gerr wrote a book titled "The Nature of
Boats." In this book are plans for a nesting dinghy that I have started
building a couple times, but never seem to have time to finish. Even if you
don't want to build a boat, the book is absolutely fascinating as it
describes for the amateur how all the calculations and design considerations
for both sail boats and power boats are calculated. I found it a great read
and use it now as a reference.

It is available from Amazon and is cheap as books go. By the way, Gerr also
sells an enlarged set of plans for the Nester. I bought those years ago and
they are just enlargements of those in the book (or probably those in the
book are shrunken versions of the larger plans). I think his connecting
system is most interesting -- this seems to be the biggest problem with
folding or nesting dinghies.

I have to concur with Chris. The Nature of Boats is a must have. When re-rigging Lyric we used the calculation for wire size. We were going to go with 1/4 inch but found that at 3/16 inch we were more than adequate. The savings on fittings and wire was cosiderable. Way more than the cost of the book. Walt
