about the bubbles if you try poring the mixed paint through a paint strainer in to your container that you dip your brush into
Bristol Finish makes its own bubbles. It's the kind of thing Microsoft would call "A user experience enhancement feature." You put it on and it is perfectly smooth and mirror finish. You look back five minutes later and the finish is covered with bubbles.
Causes of bubbles as near as I can determine from 4 years of working with the stuff:
1) Surface cooler than liquid.
2) Surface warmer than liquid.
3) Surface too cold.
4) Surface too warm.
5) Too little airflow over surface.
6) Too much airflow over surface.
7) Brush touching wet surface a second time. If you can get all the above right and get the wet edge to exactly touch the previous brush strokes without overlapping, you won't have bubbles according to my phone conversation with them.
Other causes apparently include:
a) Being applied to a boat.
b) Opening the can before applying finish.
c) Butterflies flapping their wings in China.
