Yellow Diesel Fuel Storage Can

I’ve had my little 2 gallon yellow diesel fuel can for years ( more than I care to remember). Its the perfect size for when a group of us (4) want to change our fuel filters. We usually do it as a group and its just enough to refill the filter canisters as we go along. Any left over gets put in the last boat‘s tank.
I went to fill mine and it has a crack, so I tossed it out. Thinking I could just get another one at any car parts store. But now I find these cans are rare. I can get 5 gallon yellow diesel fuel cans, but thats just too much to pour and lug around.
Anyone have an idea where I can find a replacement can? Thank you in advance.

I had never heard or seen a 2gal yellow diesel jug that wasn't a specialty item specifically designed for a Jeep type vehicle. But does it matter that it is yellow? You have a dedicated purpose for it, so it is unlikely to get accidentally used for drinking water or gasoline. Even if it was, it would be detected instantly and not cause any problems.

Red for gas and blue for kerosene are common in regular 2 gallon sizes. I'd just use one of those. You could spray paint it yellow if color was a concern.

I did think of painting a can, I may be forced to as you suggest. I have been turned away on a dock when I tried to fill a red gas can with diesel, a couple of times. Thats why I miss my little yellow can. They are definitely a rare item, if even available anymore. Thought I would ask here, I’ve looked everywhere.

If you have an electric lift pump, you don't need to fill the new fuel filters let the pump do the work before you try to start the engine. Or, use fuel stabilizer or other fuel enhancers to fill the filters. I haven't filled a new filter except a few times with some enhancers in 27 years; it's an easy way to add anything to the fuel system.

So take the can home with you and go to a gas station. You know, the place where Aunt Nancy put diesel in your car's gas tank one hot summer day last year...:)

Novel idea, draining thru bottom of container, as long as seal doesn’t leak. Think that I would prefer a top pouring spout….just in case.
I've got a gas can like this. It literally fell off a truck, I found it on the side of the road it was even full of gas. It works really well.
