Some 3 GM's are raw water cooled and do have zincs in the block.. Check the nameplate if it is a 3 GMF then no zinc.. if it is a 3 GM it will have three zincs; one on the cylinder head aft, and two in the block under the exhaust manifold.

I just picked up a fresh water 3gm30 to replacement my old 3qm30 . Every time I log on to this site I find an answer to what's on my to do list. Don't know if my list is too long or I don't know **** , I'll get back to ya on that answer.

my yanmar is fresh water cooled , manual that came with the boat stated there is a zinc under the heat exchanger no mention of any others ?
