Yanmar 3GM30F / 1986 Hunter 34My Yanmar overheated after about 1 hour of use on Saturday just as I was anchoring. Slowed to idle, checked seawater flow (good), belts (good), coolant reservoir (full) and shut down. There was some coolant in the bilge under the engine (maybe 1 cup), not sure of the source (overflow from reservoir?). Started getting dark so there was not much else I could do. Sunday morning my plan was to sail to my marina and use the engine just to dock. First I went in to check the prop to make sure it wasn't fouled (it wasn't). Sunday morning I started the engine (fine, first crank). The engine ran for about 5 minutes (no overheat) knocked, died, and won't restart. Now my plan was to sail to marina and get a tow. That worked out fine....sailed to within 100 yards of marina and towed in. Now I need to figure out what is wrong.Would it have started if it had seized from the heat the night before? No overheat warning Sunday morning. Had my family with me so I didn't really get a chance to dig into it yet.Thoughts?
