Yanmar SVE 8 Fuel Economy

I am in the process of purchasing an H27 with an old SVE 8, the motor is in good shape, and was rebuilt 7 years ago. I am wondering what kind of fuel economy I should be expecting at cruising speeds in optimal conditions.

Going to be close to 3/8 gallon an hour and about 5 kts. Ya can prolly push it faster, but the fuel use and noise goes up much faster than the speed does..

Fuel Consumption

3/8 GAL. per hour is probably gonna be real close. For a ball park figure, I usuall figure a half gallon an hour for most of the small diesels. That is gonna be pretty close. Lots of formulas to go by, so many horsepower burns so much fuel, but half gallon an hour will get you in the ballpark, and on yours is probably a little high.

Thanks guys, I may have to replace the original fuel tank and I needed to know how big I had to go for coastal cruising. I may install one of these tanks if I have to do a replacemet,
