I have rebuilt my yanmar SB8. and I don't know if I have the valve set properly. I still get heavy black smoke. The engine was rebuilt new head, valves, injector, new cylinder and liner. i am not shure if the valve settings are correct. If anyone has any information it would be a tremendous help.

SBE8 Valve adjustment

Tim: I have the SVE-SBE service manual and they say the intake/exhaust valve rocker arm clearance should be 0.2 mm. The instructions are as follows: 1. Remvoe rocker arm cover. 2. Align T.D.C mark of flywheel with datum mark on crankcase.(piston should be on compression stroke) 3. Loosen locknut of adjustment screw. Measure valve clearance with thickness gauge and adjust to 0.2 mm. 4 Tighten locknut firmly. Hope this help and solves your problem. good luck Bill
