There have been many posts in regard to a loss of power in Yanmar's lately. I experienced the same problem. Could only get up to 26-2700 rpm. I was pretty convinced that it was the mixing elbow but discovered that the throttle cable was not clamped down anywhere and was slipping and pulling the whole throttle cable up when advancing the lever. Once I stabalized the cable, I can now get up to 3400 rpm with no problem.

Governer

We had the same problem of no power with our YSM-12 Yanmar as well. After cleaning the elbow and fuel tank and replaceing the filters and adjusting the valves we found that our governer was sticking. Once we broke it loose and cleaned it real good we now have full power and no further problems. At least we have completed all our engine maintenace at once even if it didn't need it.
