I have ordered a new oil pan gasket for my yanmar. Does anyone know what the recommendation is as far as using sealants on the gasket before installing? I don't know if it is necessary or not. Any help would be appreciated. Don

Don - Why don't you try a diesel web site at <www.marinedieseldirect.com> It's a lot more focused and I'm sure you'll get the correct info there.

No sealant required...

....but you can apply Tack-ez to stick the gasket in place while you bolt in the pan. While you are at it, drill and tap the pan for a drain plug. Makes oil changes sooo much easier. I did it with mine and oil changes take less than 5 minutes and you get ALL the oil and dirt.
