I would like a referral for a yanmar mechanic in the Norfolk VA. area. We are in transit north from NC and need assistance in repairing an oil leak in the engine.

I think you are looking for a Yanmar certified mechanic. A common resource is Mack Boring in NJ. They probably certify most the Yammie mechanics on the East Coast. If they can't Rx someone you may have to go to Yanmar itself - and deal with the international thing.

what ever you do, don't stop at Atlantic Yacht Basin. I wound up repairing things that weren't broken when I brought the boat in.

Good marine diesel mechanics at Western Branch Diesel in Portsmouth, but they are not Yanmar specific. Parts source is Ocean Marine in Portsmouth. PM if you need something local.

These are great people. They are on the cobbs marina property but different business. I think Michael Montieth is the senior desiel mechanic. Based on my experience with them, i highly recommend.
