I am looking for the manual to the Yanmar Diesel 2GM. I have contacted Yanmar and got no response. Anyone know where I can get one? Thanks.

Carol: I am not sure who the distributor is in your area but Mack Boring has the manuals. It covers the 1GM10(C), 2GM20(F)(C), 3GM30(F)(C) and 3HM35(F)(C).

Make sure you have a 2GM

Carol: Many of the H33's had a 2QM 15 in them as an orginal engine - while many have been repowered with a 2GM, there are still a lot of 33's out there with 2QM's. The engines look superficially the same, but there are differences, mostly lower peak rpm and raw water as opposed to freshwater cooling - You need to make sure you have a 2Gm, as many people assume they have a more modern engine in their 33's. Manuals are available for either engine from the sites mentioned by the other posters.

Thank you. I have found Hunter owners to be the nicest and most helpful of all sailboat owners. :)

Manuals, manuals .....

The actual yanmar manual is of very little use, being written in "Jinglish" Do yourself a big favor and get the Selden shop manual for the Yanmars. A wealth of information from people who KNOW the engines. 2GM's started going into the 33's in around 1980. The 2GM is a considerably smaller, lighter engine and is VERY unlikely to be mistaken for the 2QM. Aside from the size of the engine itself, the gears were completely different. The QM required a lot of pressure to engage, thus a good size shift lever, while the GM can be flipped into gear with a pinkie and thus normaly uses a very small shift lever.
