Yanmar 4jh2-te connector type to feed hot water from water pump

Replacing the water pump. Yanmar does not sell the parts to feed the hot water. I removed the parts from the old one ... but seems like these were turned in and ruined the theads -
Concerned if I don’t do this just right it will ruin the new pump

If you are referring to starting the fitting into the new pump housing, screw the fitting CCW in the housing until you feel a gentle "click". You are then ready to start screwing it in CW.

That is a good recommendation. I was looking to see if it really is plumbing fitting I can buy at HomeDepit or someplace similar

Hi Keith, HD might have a fitting like that, but a plumbing supply house could do a better job of matching one for you. Did your original pump fail and what were the symptoms; leaking bearing, over heating?

If you've got a Home Depot near you, I will guarantee they've got a 90 deg. barbed adapter which you show. If you should experience a failed guarantee (on my part), head for the nearest marine supplier as they're as common as barnacles on your prop. No need to worry about whether it's brass, bronze, or mystery metal as it's going into your glycol system which protects everything. You'll find their adapters will have a barb rather than the single ring fitting you have shown. These are even a better design although you don't require anything special.

Best to take the original with you, but from way up here, it looks like a 1/2" MPT fitting with the hose size yet unknown. Clean the female fitting a bit, a dab of thread sealant or piece of teflon tape, and you're now a plumber, butt crack and all.

Overheating above 1800 rpm. Have not found any clogs in the sea water system or the freshwater system. So decided to replace the pump while I have it all apart.

Resolved. Some time before we purchased (10 years) impeller failure … pushed many pieces back up the inside hose the goes into the impeller housing. Started having issues 2 years ago.. amazing it was ever not an issue. Maybe the pieces were just right and for whatever reason moved in way to severely restrict flow

Good news. Interesting thing about impellers. Never checked ours, purchasing Belle-Vie in 2002. This past season I decided to replace it with a new spare as we have over a thousand hours of engine time since then. Still in pristine condition so I am keeping it as a spare. Hard to tell, but it appears to be the original with a bit over 2000 hours. No cracks in the vanes or sign of wear or aging.
