Noticed today after shutdown of the engine that the raw water pump is dripping. I haven't had to do anything to it in the 10 years that I've owned the boat. Just wondering what your experience is with rebuild kits and recommendations. New pump is VERY pricey, but so are the rebuild kits. All comments welcome.

I have totally rebuilt one (bearing, seal, impeller, and gasket) was pretty easy, but I did it at home where I have more tools.
They are really pretty simple.

You might consider remove it and tear it down before spending the money on a rebuild kit. That way you will see if the housing and shaft are okay before you commit money. At the same time, you will see the difficulty or lack of.

Do a search here and plenty of sailors have done the rebuild and plenty of info and photo's showing all the parts and how to rebuild.

www.depcopump.com. These guys were great and not expensive. Rebuilt my Sherwood. Fast turnaround also.
