My Primary filter is a R11T. The bowl the filter sits in is small just a little
larger than the filter. My question is does the R11 filter water? or does it
clog it?. There is a drain plug on the bottom of the bowl. Should I drain
it on a regular basis or should I replace the current set up with a water
separator filter?
Thanks

Funny, I just happened to be looking at my Racor 110A filter spec sheet, which uses the R11T element, because I had dropping engine RPM coming back into the slip yesterday and I think my filter may be clogging. The sheet says "The Model 110A is extremely effective in removing better than 99% of free water normally found in fuel due to condensation. The R11T replacement filter uses Racor's proprietary Aquabloc filtering media which removes particulates and prevents water from entering the injection system." Sounds to me like it filters water. The sheet also says "Water is heavier than fuel and will settle to the bottom of the bowl and appear different in color once collected in a clear jar. In marine or high humidity environments, check the collection bowl frequently. With engine off: remove the drain plug momentarily to evacuate contaminants, then replace. Note: in some applications it may be necessary to open the vent plug first before removing the drain plug to break the vacuum.”
