Hi;

Anyone experience a leak on the fuel pump side of their engine?
Tightened down the fuel pump bolts and replaced gasket but is coming from somewhere that side of engine based on where is dripping onto floor pan and hard to see in that area with the compartment wall obstructing view. Any similar encounters?
Thanks. Ilan

Could it be from the pump? The diaphragm can develop leaks with age, and can result in drips coming down the side of the actual pump, and then down that side of the engine.

I replaced the lift pump this year. It was a great fix to the problem of always having fuel oil underneath the engine smelling up the boat and dripping into the bilge.

Engine oil, right?
There are a few places it could be leaking from. The dipstick seal, the dipstick housing, the fuel pump base, and the two "banjo" connectors that supply oil to the camshaft bearings. A banjo bolt may have loosened and is dripping.. be careful tightening since they are not that difficult to break. It may be necessary to change the copper gaskets to get the leak to stop, if that is where it is leaking. To see the connections, find the little pipe that crosses the aft end of the cylinder head and follow it around and under the exhaust manifold. You may need a mirror and flashlight.

Thanks for advice. Will be pulling away cabinet side to inspect closely.

Shouldn't have to pull that off for access; it will help but.. you can reach up under the manifold with a paper towel and feel for the banjos .. one leaking will weep onto the paper.. wait till it is cooled off..

It might be just the fitting that is leaking, but with a 20-yr-old boat ... I read an article lately in GOB about a 3GM30F with a lift pump that leaked ...
