Hello I’m stuck on another project with my hunter 34. One of the decompression levers on the valve cover snapped the bolt/ cam shaft holding it in place in the cover. I purchased a new shaft, o rings , lever and nut from Yanmar. It snapped off at the edge of the cover on the outside, how do I get the old shaft out or where could I find a used cover!! Dilemma is the motor seized and I was able to get 30degree movement on the crankshaft. Long patience and determination to get here! Thank you for all help here

As you already know the shaft goes through in a horizontal bore. On the top of the cover - just behind the horizontal bore - you will find a pin set flush with the surface of the cover. The pin may be covered in paint - if so scrape the paint away to expose the end of the pin. Gently drive the pin out. Once the pin is out the shaft will slide out. Use a slim punch or a nail (point cut off) as your driver and be sure to back up the bonnet with a socket so you do not break anything else.

If you are not used to this kind of work - and since you are clearly in for a complete disassembly anyway - consider having the machine shop show you how to do this.
