Hello Hunter Owners.

Our 1986 Hunter 34 has a 3G F Yanmar diesel with 2225 hours. Seems to get great "mileage" meaning 1.8L/hour or roughly .5US Gal/Hour.

When should injectors etc be inspected and replaced ? Any rule of thumb? The engine has always had its oil changed and oil filter replaced every 100 hours.

Thanks

David

If it runs good I would leave it alone. My old '85 2GM has about the same hours and has never had anything done to it.

Clean fuel and filters and it may outlast the hull. Yanmar est. 10, 000 -12, 000 hours before a rebuild.

I agree with Steve, I also have the 3gmf. No smoke, fixed the small leaks, runs like a top. These engines seem to be bomber.

David, call NW Injectors, they are a Yanmar service centre, in the lower mainland. I think 1000 hrs for service and adjustment of injectors.
I was pleased with the service there, and my 3gm30 started and ran much better. My injectors were pitted from low use. Also my initial pressure [idle pressure ?] was too low, and needed to be set to spec.
You can also call Stem to Stern Marine for advice, the company the Hunter dealer uses.
Ciao

Hi....Anyone have a 3GM30(F) mated to a Kanzaki KM2P transmission? Curious as just had to pull my transmission to have cone and shoe replaced (2000 H340) and in reading up on the transmission and deciding whether to attempt the surgery myself or not (decided not), the docs all say that this engine should have a KM3A or KM3P. It seems to be original to the boat (we're not original owners) but has me wondering...

Also as I had to shift the engine forward to disengage the spline gear I'm changing engine mounts for ones I ordered last year but hadn't gotten to yet. I noticed that the originals stamped 100 were both installed to starboard while port were 75. I assume this is to compensate for the torque of the engine but have also seen references to them intended to be installed fore and aft. My new ones are all the same (not from Yanmar but assured to be better at handling movement in all directions so not required) so again more a curiosity.
