Yanmar 2YM15G replacement

Hello,

I am trying to replace my old albin with Yanmar 2YM15.
I m not planning to play with the old shaft inclination.

However it seems to be 5 cm taller than the old albin.

Please help on that.

Question: Why are you replacing your old engine with the
Yanmar 2YM15? A Yanmar 1GM10 will do.

We agree with Wilhelm--we have the Yanmar 1GM and it has served us well even
on the Maine coast where we have strong tidal currents. We installed it
ourselves with very little modification to the engine bed. As it is small, it
takes up a lot less space than the Volvo. However, if and when it gives up
the ghost, we would probably put in the Beta, as it has a bit more horsepower.
We don't feel the Vega needs an 18 hp engine; much too large.

They have a cheap engine on surpluscenter.com. I\'m currently
installing it now, the engine seems to fit just fine so far in the
prosess, I can come back to you on progress in a week or two. The
engine is a 15 hp watercooled diesel. It\'s a mitsubitshi L2E engine.
Cost is 1500 USD. I have purchased a hurth 100 gear for it. The
engine is popular as base for marine engines. Used by ie Sole Diesel
and Vetus.

Hi Bjorn,

Any reason why this engine is so cheap? It is 4 time less than anything
else!!!

It\'s not a marine engine, so in addition to the purchase price you
will need to buy a transmission, a salt water cooling system and
some other smaller items. These systems can ofcourse be purchased
original, but its unbeliveably expensive. I have tried to solve
these problems by purchasing used stuff quite chaep. In total I\'v
used 700usd for varios stuff. In addition I had to pay 420usd
transporting the motor to norway, and 350usd vat. Don\'t know where
you live, but if you\'re from USA these last two costs will be
minimal. So far the engine fit seems perfect, I can give you some
guideance when I have finished my own installation. The good thing
about this motor is that it\'s new, it fits very easy without any
modifications and its a popular base for marine engines so its easy
to get spare parts.
