Sailing this past weekend on the tail winds of Floyd, I noticed when leaving the mooring that the throttle was getting a little hard to move. I disconnected the linkage at the engine and found the lever on the engine was the sticking point. I squirted some crc lube on the shaft entering the engine and worked it a little which seemed to correct the problem. Question is, anyone experience this and should I take other steps from preventing this from happening again? Thanks

Throttle

You may want to make sure that the cable isn't "bowing" in the Pedestal housing. A few years back I found out the hard way. In a good blow I lost power control. I found that the throttle cable had broke and had to wedge a piece of wood on the engine lever to maintain power. On further inspection ("back in port") I found that the folks that had assembled the pedestal cabling left out a key part - an aluminum bracket about 6- 8 inches long that held the cable housing in place just under the compass/levers so that it wouldn't have the play to bow. As it happened the cabling was previously bowing rather than sliding straight into the cable housing and with metal fatigue ....broke. Make sure that this isn't what is in process of happening to you.
