The tach on my 1989 hunter 30 stopped working. Can anyone give me advice how to troubleshoot or how it works? Where is the sensor? Is there a fuse? thanks steve
I had the same problem this past year...it was the sending unit which can be accessed from the access cover in the head and is located near the starter if i remember correctly. The cost of the sending unit was about $130.
I found and fixed the problem. The two leads connected to the sensor or sending unit were corroded and needed cleaning. Once they were cleaned and reconnected the tachometer worked.steve
Is your starter battery switch in the on position? I figured this out the other day... after starting the engine, if you turn the starter battery switch to the off position, the tach quits... and you can't start the engine till switching the battery switch to the on position.
